She and her father, Kazimierz Skowyra, a colonel in the Polish army, floated the wild whitewater of the upper Klamath River as guests of the Polish television show, "For You Anything." "It was so wonderful, just so exciting and I think maybe a little dangerous," she said after the trip. "This is something I always wanted to do ever since I was a young girl when my father and I float down a river in Poland," she added. "But it was slow Polish river, not speedy like this one." Advertisement Medford-based Rogue Klamath River Adventures, a longtime local outfitter, took the Skowyras, the program’s executive producer, Hanna Dzielinska, and a Polish television camera crew down the river. In the program, the winning contestant must perform a challenging and, apparently, sometimes embarrassing task to earn the right to give a relative the dream of his or her lifetime. To be able to grant his only child’s dream of rafting in one of wildest rivers in the United States, the elder Skowyra donned his uniform and did a striptease in a Krakow night club. "I would do anything for my daughter," her father explained before the trip was launched. The trip included a continental breakfast at the Green Springs Inn and a lunch catered by Deli Down in Medford. The rafts were put in at the John C. Boyle power plant near the Oregon state line, then floated 17 river miles downstream to Copco Lake near Hornbrook, Calif. The stretch offers Class IV rapids, depending on the flow. The trip will later be shown on Polish television, according to Wayne Zallen, owner of the whitewater firm. "It was so exciting, sometimes dangerous, but I know Wayne was taking good care of us," Justyna Skowyra said. "It was worth it to come all this way. I have respect for this river." After spending the night in Medford, the Skowyras and the Polish television crew todaywill begin their return trip to Poland. The upper Klamath River was named a National Wild and Scenic River in 1994 under the 1968 Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. It was cited for its outstanding scenic and recreational resources.
