Fiegi dominates as Panthers drop South Eugene The Panthers' 6-foot-9 senior post registered his first career triple-double as South Medford pulled away for a 70-54 victory over South Eugene in non-conference boys basketball. Fiegi netted 29 points - on 13-of-17 shooting - to accompany 11 blocks and 10 rebounds. "The biggest factor for us was Eric Fiegi," South Medford coach Dennis Murphy said. "He obviously played well, and we did a good job getting him the basketball." The Panthers began the game with a 10-2 run, but couldn't put the Axemen away until a 26-13 spurt in the fourth quarter. South Medford led by three entering the period. "We'd play well for a couple of minutes and get up 10 or 12 points, then they came right back," said Murphy. Fiegi tallied 11 points in the final period and the Panthers converted on 6 of 8 free throws. "They started shooting the ball quicker, and we got some easy transition baskets," said Murphy. South Medford's Boomer Marshall 10 points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists, and Adam Walport added 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting. "It was our first road trip, and it's always good if you can come back in the fourth quarter," said Murphy. "We just have to play more consistently earlier in the game."
