More flights to San Francisco Options grow for Medford travelers Details were announced Tuesday about three more daily airline flights between Medford and San Francisco starting Oct. 31. The United Express flights will leave Medford at 10:14 a.m., 2:15 p.m. and 8 p.m. and leave San Francisco at 8:26 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., according to SkyWest Airlines. The addition of the three flights to San Francisco will coincide with Shuttle by United's new direct service to Los Angeles. The additional service to both cities was announced in June. Shuttle by United now offers three or four daily flights to San Francisco. It will shift two of those flights to Los Angeles, leaving two jet flights to San Francisco. The United Express flights are aboard 30-passenger turbo-prop planes. "We're extremely excited about the additional service," says airport spokeswoman Kim Stearns. "You gain a greater variety of times. (With) the Shuttle flights you were kind of hooked in." Normal air fares to both cities are expected to be in the $250-$260 range, regardless of whether they are jet or turbo-prop flights, according to Barbara Shaw, an agent at Medford's Burgess Travel. Rates are lower currently because of a fare war. SkyWest Airlines, based in St. George, Utah, offers regional air service to 65 Western cities. It operates United Express service through the West Coast's major hubs: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle/Tacoma and Portland. It also operates Delta Connection service through Salt Lake City. SkyWest already operates six daily flights from Medford to Portland. Earlier this summer, Horizon Airlines added a fourth daily flight to Seattle.   Mail Tribune Copyright   The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, Oregon USA
