And that wasn't the burglar's first stop. Medford police suspect 28-year-old Jeremiah Jacob Hiscock, of Medford, also broke into an apartment above the headquarters, where he stole a motley of random property and also made an unsuccessful attempt to enter Jackson Creek Pizza next door. Police responded to the apartment in the 300 block of East Main Street after a break-in was reported at about 7:30 a.m. Monday. One of the apartment residents reportedly heard a crash and went to the back patio area to investigate. "He saw that someone had shattered a skylight, valued at $1,500, and used a garden hose to rappel down into the business," Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said . Police didn't say how Hiscock secured the hose before rappelling down. The apartment resident peered down into the hole, saw Hiscock, then called the police, Budreau added. Police arrived and arrested Hiscock moments after he'd broken through a front window with a chair. "He surprisingly didn't make any attempts to flee," Budreau said, adding Hiscock was not injured by any of the shattered glass. An investigation showed Hiscock had taken $60, a restaurant gift card, an extension cord, a screwdriver and a pair of gloves, police said. The golf club was left at the scene. Investigators also found holes in an exterior wall at Jackson Creek Pizza, where they suspect Hiscock also tried to break in. Hiscock was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of first- and second-degree burglary, second-degree theft, criminal mischief and attempted second-degree burglary, as well as a parole violation from a previous burglary case.
