I understand it was recorded on the roof of the City Hall. Is that correct? — Fred, Trail That's a good question, especially with the multiple record-breaking hot days we had in Medford this August. According to the National Weather Service, the top 5 hottest temperatures recorded in Medford (in degrees Fahrenheit) are: 1. 115 — Jul. 20, 1946 2. 114 — Aug. 8, 1981 3. 111 — three-way tie on Jun. 22, 1992, Aug. 8, 1981, Aug. 7, 1981. 4. 110 — five-way tie on Sept. 2, 1988, Jul. 20, 1988, Aug. 10, 1981, Aug. 8, 1978, Jul. 16, 1911. 5. 109 — Aug. 19, 2016, was one of about 10 entries for this temperature, breaking the previous record for the day. In 2015 and 2016, Medford reached 109 degrees, but not 110. For reference, the coldest temperature recorded in Medford is -10 degrees, set on Dec. 13, 1919. Brett Lutz, a meteorologist at Medford’s National Weather Service, says Medford started recording temperatures in 1911. In answer to your question, from 1911 to 1926, they were recorded from the roof of city hall.
