A Talent police officer late Tuesday arrested Easter on two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he remained late Wednesday on $2.5 million bail. Rape — Stephen Andrew Smith, 20, of Lower Lake, Calif. A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy Wednesday arrested Smith on warrants charging him with first-degree rape, first- degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse. He was lodged in jail, where he remained late Wednesday on $360,000 bail. Drugs — Scott Langdon Thompson, 46, no known address. A sheriff’s deputy Wednesday arrested Thompson on charges of possession of amphetamines, driving with a suspended license and a probation violation. He was lodged in jail, where he remained late Wednesday on $12,000 bail. Drugs — Owen Lee Christiansen, 31, no known address. Jackson County Narcotics Enforcement Team agents arrested Christiansen Wednesday on charges of manufacturing hallucinogens, delivering hallucinogens, possession of hallucinogens, possession of hashish, manufacturing marijuana, delivering marijuana, possession of marijuana and two counts of first-degree child neglect. He was lodged in jail, where he remained late Wednesday on $130,000 bail. Forgery, theft — Rhonda Faye Driskell, 45, of the 1100 block of East 10th Street, Medford. Driskell appeared Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court on an indictment charging her with two counts of first-degree forgery and first-degree theft. She was booked into jail then released on her own recognizance. Failure to report — Thomas Meade Steeves, 61, no known address. A Medford police officer Wednesday arrested Steeves on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender. He was lodged in jail, where he remained late Wednesday on $5,000 bail. Advertisement Drugs — Marc Robert Edwards, 29, of the 100 block of B Street, Ashland. An Ashland police officer Wednesday arrested Edwards on charges of possession of amphetamines and third- degree theft. He was lodged in jail, where he remained late Wednesday on $9,000 bail. Assault — Dane Manuel Hooker, 27, of the 2300 block of East McAndrews Road, Medford. A Central Point police officer Wednesday arrested Hooker on a charge of third-degree assault. He was lodged in jail, where he remained late Wednesday on $25,000 bail. Burglary — Scott Andrew Kephart, 18, of the 4500 block of Table Rock Road, Central Point. Kephart appeared Wednesday in Circuit Court on an indictment charging him with two counts of second-degree burglary, second-degree trespassing, two counts of second-degree criminal mischief and third-degree theft. He was booked into jail then released on his own recognizance. Miscellaneous Jail releases — A total of 124 inmates were released last week from the Jackson County Jail to meet its court-ordered cap of 230 inmates. Of those, 53 were released before their scheduled court appearances, 12 were granted early release from a sentence and 59 were released for miscellaneous reasons.
