Since You Asked: Development is a senior-living complex Monday Dec 26, 2016 at 3:09 PM Dec 26, 2016 at 3:09 PM I'd like to see the Mail Tribune do an explanatory article on this huge development going up on the corner of East McAndrews Road and Springbrook Road four stories high, so out of character for the area. What the heck is it? — Edith B., Medford It's been a couple of years, Edith, but we've reported on the transition of land on the southeast corner of East McAndrews Road and Springbrook Road from a sloping hayfield to what you see now. Salem-based Bonaventure Senior Living, formally known as Mountain West Senior Housing, is building a 147-unit, 154,000-square-foot continuing care center on a 9-acre parcel it acquired for $1.7 million from Beaverton-based Wyndhaven Properties in September 2014. Wyndhaven Properties, which has ties to Arizona, paid $3.2 million to the heirs of Clara Ditsworth for the land in October 2005. The new facility, scheduled to open next August, will include 69 retirement apartments, 55 assisted-living units and 23 memory care units, Executive Director Debbie Vick told us. All told, just over 200 people can live in the senior village Bonaventure Medford will have two full-service dining rooms, as well as a 24/7 self-service cafe, a bowling alley and movie theater. Single-bedroom independent living apartments run $2,300 monthly, including meals, and two-bedroom, two-bathroom, units run $3,500 monthly. Bonaventure Senior Living operates 28 senior communities in Oregon, Colorado and Washington. The Medford operation expects to employ more than 50 people.
