Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend November 8, 2005 Meth Watch: Suspect flees charge of endangerment EDITOR’S NOTE: Crime Stoppers of Southern Oregon, in cooperation with the Mail Tribune and KTVL Channel 10, is participating in "Meth Watch," a program intended to combat the manufacture and sales of methamphetamine in Southern Oregon. Each week, Meth Watch will focus on a person wanted by Jackson or Josephine county law-enforcement agencies for delivery and/or manufacture of methamphetamine. Eric James Brown is wanted by Central Point police for failure to appear in Jackson County Circuit Court on charges of manufacturing and possessing meth, delivering the illegal drug to a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor. Arrested in June, Brown was released from the Jackson County Jail on bail. A warrant was issued for his arrest when he did not report to court for his September trial. Bail on the warrant is $120,000. Brown is described as a white man, 39 years old, 6 feet tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. The picture shown in today’s newspaper was taken in June. Brown may be using an alias of Eric Temple or Jason Whitehouse. He may have left the area with a 15-year-old girl, who is listed as a runaway. Meth statistics: In conjunction with Meth Watch, the Mail Tribune is compiling weekly statistics to demonstrate the effects of methamphetamine on our community. Arrests — Seven people were arrested last week and lodged in the Jackson County Jail on a charge of possessing meth. Two arrests were in conjunction with other criminal charges. Court appearances — Four people appeared in Jackson County Circuit Court last week on a charge of possessing meth. One person also was indicted for frequenting a drug house. Child welfare — The local child welfare office of the state’s Department of Human Services removed three children from two homes last week and placed them into protective custody due to methamphetamine use in the family. Addiction recovery — Twenty-one meth addicts entered outpatient treatment last week at OnTrack Inc. Three meth addicts completed inpatient treatment last week at Addictions Recovery Center (ARC). Four people were admitted last week to ARC's sobering center while under the influence of meth.
