Americans top Nationals at state, 16 By Medford Americans Aug 02, 1999 12:00 AM A A -3 PORTLAND -- The stayed alive in the 11-12-year-old Little League state baseball tournament by virtue of a 16-3 win over the Medford Nationals. Both teams lost their openers on Saturday, and this loss eliminated the Nationals. Pitcher Kyle Williamson limited the Nationals to six hits in 5 2/3 innings and drove in four runs with a home run, double and single to lead the Americans. He struck out seven and walked three. Tyler Heil drove in three runs with a pair of hits and Ben Running knocked in two runs with two hits. The Americans meet St. Helens, a 4-3 loser to Baker City, at 4 p.m. today.
