Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Advertisement Email Story to a Friend April 26, 2006 South beats Eagles for seventh straight win EAGLE POINT — South Medford’s Jared Adamson demonstrated leadership by his performance on the field Tuesday. The senior shortstop turned in some stellar defensive plays and batted 4-for-4 as the ninth-ranked Panthers registered their seventh straight Southern Oregon Conference victory with a 7-2 win over Eagle Point. The scheduled home game for South Medford (16-2, 11-2 SOC) was moved to The Yard because of paving at the new Harry and David Field. South Medford’s last loss came in the second game of a doubleheader to Eagle Point (8-11, 3-11 SOC). South Medford coach Steve Antich recognized the importance of Adamson’s contributions in keeping the winning streak alive. "(Adamson) set the tone for the team at the plate and at short," said Antich. "He had a spectacular game. He made a couple of great plays in the field. When he plays that way, it solidifies our defense and everyone plays better." Advertisement Junior pitcher Zach Robinson (1-0) struck out four, walked one and allowed two runs in a five-inning stint. He allowed all five Eagles hits. Griffin Boyd picked up his first save with two hitless shutout innings. "Griffin came in and was able to locate his curveball," said Antich. "When that pitch is working, he is hard to hit." Rick Imhausen smacked a ground-rule double to open a three-run Panther outburst in the second inning. Zach Wilson followed with a single to center, Taylor Comford produced an RBI single and Ben Koziol ripped an RBI double. Comford eventually scored on a wild pitch to give South a 3-0 lead. The Panthers added another run in the third when Adamson singled with one out and Imhausen singled to put runners on first and third. Adamson scored when Eagles third baseman Kyle Miers couldn’t handle Wilson’s hard grounder. Mark Austad and Imhausen added two hits each for South, while Mychal Williams had two hits and scored a run for the Eagles. "To this point, our pitching staff has kept us in games," said Antich, "and we’ve done just enough offensively. Our kids have competed well and we’ve won a bunch of close games."
