Crater, Rogue River students put on 24 Hour Play Cabaret Wednesday Nov 2, 2016 at 10:50 AM Nov 2, 2016 at 10:50 AM Crater Drama and Rogue River Arden Ensemble are teaming up to produce a 24 Hour Play Cabaret, in which short plays will be written, directed, memorized and acted in 24 hours. The plays will be performed for the public at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Crater Performing Arts Center, 655 N. Third St., Central Point. Doors open at 7 p.m. Cost is $5 for students and $7 for general admission. All proceeds go toward future productions by Crater Drama and Rogue River Arden Ensemble. The countdown will begin Friday night, when writers, directors and a handful of actors gather to brainstorm ideas. The actors will pick out a costume and a prop, and then tell the group of writers their skills and what they wish to do — from singing to dancing to dying a dramatic death on stage. The writers then have from midnight to 6 a.m. to put the actors’ visions into short plays. Directors then step in and start rehearsals with the actors right up until the shows are performed.
