The Comets took the opener, 6-1, behind Jenni Bittle’s five-hit, seven-strikeout performance. Not to be outdone, Janelle Cristofaro fanned 13 batters in the nightcap to help Crater complete the sweep, 5-4 in eight innings. North Salem grabbed a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning of Game 2, but the Comets answered in the seventh on Cristofaro’s sacrifice fly. Using the international tiebreaker rule, Crater (5-0) started with a runner at second base in the eighth inning. Advertisement After two batters, Becca Shelamer drove home the game-winner from third when she reached on a comebacker to the pitcher.
