However, since Wal-Mart can appeal its two proposals to the Land Use Board of Appeals, the company would likely wait until they received a ruling before embarking on an initiative process. Wal-Mart spokesman Eric Berger said a ballot initiative hasn’t been considered yet by his company. But he didn’t rule it out in the future, depending on the technical challenges. "If it was an option, we would look at it," he said. Also remember, Jim, that in Inglewood, Calif., Wal-Mart lost the ballot measure after spending $1 million to promote it.
