" Baker’s Dozen" will showcase diverse and engaging works by SOU faculty David Bithell, Cody Bustamante, Miles Inada, Peg Sjogren, Robin Strangfeld and visiting professors Rene Allen, Brooks Dierdorff, Summer Ventis, and Ben Waterman. "New Works" features works by national and international artists newly represented in the museum’s collection. The exhibits will open with a reception for the artists from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at the museum. There will be a series of talks by participating artists, readings by creative writing faculty Kasey Mohammed, Robert Arellano and Craig Wright, and lectures by professors Melissa Geppert and Warren Hedges. Admission to the readings and talks will be free. Dierdorff will lecture at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22; Ventis at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29; Melissa Geppert at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5; Bustamante at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12; Wright, Mohammed and Arellano will read at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19; Warren Hedges will lecture at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26; and Allen at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5. "New Works" will feature works donated to the museum, along with works purchased with grant funding from The Ford Family Foundation and Oregon Arts Commission. The grants allowed the museum to purchase photography by Oregon artists Akihiko Miyoshi, Arnold Kemp and Evan LaLond. Regular museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is a donation of $5. Two free Family Days are set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 24 and Feb. 21. Docent-led tours will be available at noon Tuesdays.
