Driver sought, 116 lbs. of pot seized in Cave Junction By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Dec 03, 2021 04:18 PM A A Josue Ruiz-Atenogenes The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a driver who allegedly left behind more than 100 pounds of illicit pot — and his passenger — when he fled on foot from a traffic stop Thursday morning in Cave Junction. The driver bolted during a traffic stop at 10:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Laurel Road and Waters Drive, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Inside the car, police found 116 pounds of processed marijuana, and a passenger identified as Josue Ruiz-Atenogenes, 24, of Modesto, California. Ruiz-Atenogenes was arrested on felony charges of unlawfully possessing marijuana and attempting to deliver marijuana. As of Friday morning, Ruiz-Atenogenes was held in the Josephine County Jail on $25,000 bail. The driver was described as a Hispanic male about 5-feet-5 and 145 pounds with black hair.
