Detonated pipe bomb found in White City park WHITE CITY -- Remnants of a detonated pipe bomb were found Monday in Burns Park, and police suspect it may have been the source of a rumbling blast heard early Monday in White City. A teenage member of a county work crew found the bomb at about 9 a.m. in the playground area of the park off Division Road, Jackson County sheriff's Deputy Randy Arnold said. The bomb appeared to have been detonated, but no other information was available. Authorities said it was unknown Monday whether the device was related to an explosion that many White City residents reported hearing, and feeling, about 1 a.m. "We assume they are connected," sheriff's Sgt. John Atkins said. "But it's supposition at this point." No damage was reported, but the 1 a.m. blast jolted Cheryl Stout's husband and son in their home. "That's four blocks away," Stout said Monday.
