The Pear Blossom Festival will close streets, limit parking and cause possible delays for drivers, Medford police warn. Streets around The Commons, also known as Pear Blossom Park, will close at 5 a.m. Friday so vendors can start setting up for the street fair. Those streets include Fifth Street between Central and Riverside avenues, and both directions of Bartlett Street between Fourth and Sixth streets. All streets around The Commons will reopen at about 7 p.m. Saturday. The parking garage will remain open as usual with no restrictions. To make way for the parade Saturday, Medford police will start clearing the staging area, including Court, Boardman, Beatty, Edwards, Manzanita streets and Central Avenue between Highway 238 and Main Street, at 4:15 a.m., towing cars left on those streets. The streets will close to all traffic at 7 a.m. and remain closed until the last parade entry rolls out around 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The parade route along Central Avenue from Edwards Street to Main Street and along Main Street from Central Avenue to Sixth Street will close at 8:45 a.m. Saturday and reopen when the parade ends. The parade starts at 11 a.m. To get ready for the Pear Blossom Run, Oakdale Avenue will be closed between Eighth and Tenth streets at 4:30 a.m. Saturday. The run routes will close at 6:45 a.m. Eighth Street between Columbus Avenue and Laurel Street will reopen at about 9:30 a.m. Main Street between Columbus Avenue and Hamilton Street will reopen at 10:30 a.m. No westbound traffic will be allowed on West Main Street out to Hanley Road or on all of Hanley Road from 8 to 10:30 a.m. to accommodate 10-mile racers. Eastbound West Main Street from Hanley Road to Columbus Avenue will remain open. Pedals 'n Pears brings four bike races to Medford. Drivers should be alert for cyclists and expect delays as racers move from downtown, across southwest Medford and into the rural areas.
