Diego Geovanny Lopez, 31, was arrested on drug, weapons and theft charges after an officer spotted him behaving suspiciously at the Medford Center Purple Parrot Saturday night, Medford police Lt. Curtis Whipple said . Whipple said Lopez was "displaying behavior" that indicated he might have a weapon. Whipple said officers are trained to look for signs of illegally concealed weapons. "A lot of that is continually moving away from the officer, adjusting something on their belt, stuff like that," Whipple said. The officer approached Lopez and patted him down, which is when he found a dagger. Carrying a dagger concealed is a misdemeanor in Oregon. Further investigation showed Lopez was wanted on warrants stemming from a probation violation on a past conviction for car theft. Police also searched Lopez's car and found two pistols, a Ruger that had been reported stolen and a Smith & Wesson revolver, Whipple said. The officer also found a backpack containing 34 grams of heroin and 102 grams of methamphetamine. "They definitely were not user amounts. These were dealer amounts," Whipple said. Jail records show Lopez was booked into the Jackson County just before midnight Saturday and remained there Monday morning with no bail. He is held on a slew of charges, including unlawful delivery, manufacture and possession of methamphetamine and heroin, being a felon in possession of a weapon and first-degree theft. On Monday, court records didn't yet show when he was due to appear in Jackson County Circuit Court. Reach reporter Ryan Pfeil at 541-776-4468 or [email protected] .
