Did she find it? Did the police catch who took it? — Randall F., Medford The story of Darth Vader, the 20-inch koi, is not a happy one, Randall. The koi disappeared Oct. 13 from the backyard pond and there was no sign of animal disturbance, leading owner Brenda Hogge to believe someone stole the valuable jet-black fish. After the article ran, a neighbor called to say he had found the mostly eaten remains of Darth in his yard, the apparent dinner of a neighborhood raccoon. He informed the Hogges, who were saddened at the loss but brightened by all the good will and kindness people showed them after the article. "I’m also glad for the closure and that it happened as part of the food chain, not the meanness of people," Hogge said. Send questions to "Since You Asked," Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
