Beavers defeat Buckeyes in NCAA opener By The Associated Press Nov 14, 2009 12:00 AM A A COLUMBUS, Ohio — Courtney Wetzel scored two goals and Oregon State defeated Ohio State 3-1 in the first round of the NCAA women's soccer tournament. It was the Beavers' first-ever victory in the postseason tournament. Melissa Peck also scored for Oregon State, which is 13-7-1 this season. The Beavers will play a second-round game on Sunday against Florida, which defeated Illinois State 2-0 earlier Friday. The University of Portland also won its opener, downing Denver 4-0. The Pilots, who won NCAA titles in 2002 and 2005, will next play Washington on Sunday.
