The Southern Oregon University French Club will serve its 21st annual French Dinner, a five-course meal for students, employees and community members on Thursday, Feb. 22 in the Stevenson Union’s Rogue River Room, on the SOU campus, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd. Ashland. The dinner will begin with soup, followed by a palate cleanser, quiche, salad and cheese, French bread, dessert and coffee or tea. Vegetarian options are available for the soup and quiche courses. Wine donated by Oregon wineries can be purchased at $3 per glass for those who are 21 and older. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and orders will be taken at 7 p.m. Tickets are $9 for students and $12 for community members. Friday, Feb. 23 Book Sale: The Rogue River Friends of the Library will hold book sales from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Rogue River library, 412 E. Main St. Look for new or gently-used books, DVDs and CDs. Purchase a large grocery bag for $ 3 and fill with as many books as you would like. Star Promenaders: The club hosts an A-1 and A-2 dancing from 6 to 7:30 p.m. the second and fourth Saturday of every month at the Rogue Valley Square Dance Center, 3377 Table Rock Road, Medford. Bob Haworth and John Hollis: The singer, songwriter and guitar duo will present "Tales and Tunes from the Folk Music Era," an old-fashioned hootenanny, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Eagle Point Grange, 5 S. Shasta Ave. Haworth is a 1965 graduate of Medford High School. By 1970, he joined The Brothers Four, a Seattle-based folk group, and in 1985, he joined The Kingston Trio and toured and recorded with the popular folk group for 20 years. Their last show was in 2005 at Britt Festival. Singer and guitarist Hollis is a regular performer at Callahan's Lodge near Mount Ashland. Haworth and Hollis will trace the rise of folk music from Woody Guthrie through Peter, Paul and Mary and others. The audience is invited to sing along.
