Fety’s time of 20 minutes, 50 seconds was enough to blister the field, but it was hot fall weather that blistered the runners. "It was a very hot day and that effected the times," first-year Rogue River coach Robin Haynes said. "Allegra is clearly the best runner in the conference right now. She ran (uncontested) the entire race. "Lacey Sparks ran a season best today, which was good under the conditions." Rogue River’s Taylor Schefstrom (23:14) and Sparks (23:31) finished second and third, respectively, to give the Chieftains the top three spots. Carolena Porter of North Valley clocked 23:44 to finish fourth and Amanda Phillips of Phoenix led the Pirates with a fifth-place finish and a time of 24:50. Phoenix ace Nathan May defeated the field with an impressive time of 16:51. But the Pirates, who were without two runners, gave way to Rogue River in the team standings 25-34. Chieftain Andrew Barella was second in17:26 and Adam Chizek of Phoenix was third in 18:13. Nathan Figueth, (18:43) and Roman Newell (18:49), both of Rogue River, round out the top five.
