White City couple accused of making fake cash www.123rf.com Thursday Oct 6, 2016 at 2:00 AM Oct 6, 2016 at 9:10 AM Vickie Aldous Mail Tribune @VickieAldous A man and woman face charges after police busted an alleged counterfeit money-making operation at the man's White City home. Joel David Wurch, 36, of the 2600 block of Agate Meadows in White City, and Jennifer Lynn Statham, 32, of Grants Pass, were each charged with 10 counts of first-degree possession of a forged instrument.  Wurch pleaded not guilty to the charges Wednesday and has a pre-trial conference hearing scheduled for Oct. 17 in Jackson County Circuit Court. Statham is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Oct. 17. According to an affidavit, police served a search warrant at Wurch's address Sept. 19 as part of an investigation into a counterfeit currency investigation. Police allegedly found printers, computers, paper, paper cutters and a container of counterfeit money that held at least 50 counterfeit bills. Police planned to do a full count after the bills were logged into evidence, the affidavit said. Statham is listed in court records as having a post office box address in Grants Pass. Police said in the affidavit she lived with Wurch at the White City house. The counterfeit bills, paper, computers and several printers were recovered from their shared bedroom, the affidavit said. Wurch remained lodged Wednesday in the Jackson County Jail on $70,000 bail, according to jail records. Statham was released after posting a security of $7,500. She is required to live in Jackson County and check in with a release officer at least every other week, according to court records. In another case, Wurch faces charges of delivery of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and four counts of first-degree forgery. In that case, he was allegedly caught trying to use a counterfeit $20 bill May 25 at the Army Navy Marine Store on Crater Lake Avenue in Central Point. Police allegedly found him in possession of methamphetamine and more than $600 in counterfeit bills, according to an affidavit. In a third case, police allege Wurch used counterfeit money May 25 to steal goods from Ray's Food Place in Eagle Point and at Eagle Point Hardware & Rental. He faces two counts of first-degree forgery and two counts of third-degree theft, according to an indictment.
