The Credit Union's existing south Medford branch at Stewart Avenue and South Peach Street will close after Friday. All Rogue branches will be closed Monday to prepare for the opening. Credit union's big move starts Saturday By DAVID PRESZLER Rogue Federal Credit Union will move into its fancy new digs next to Miles Field over the weekend. The credit union's south Medford branch is relocating to a new brick building off South Pacific Highway. Administration, data processing and accounting for the credit union, which has about 31,000 members, will also be housed in the new location at 1370 Center Drive in Medford. "We're elated to finally get it done and get in," said Rogue Federal President Tim Alford. The new branch will open for business at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The credit union will continue to operate its north Medford branch on Royal Avenue and its Ashland branch on Lithia Way. However, all Rogue Federal branches will be closed on Monday so employees can assist with the move. The drive-thru service at the north Medford branch will be closed both Saturday and Monday as well. With the move, Rogue Federal plans to sell the Stewart Avenue building. Today will be the last day of business at that site, which was built in 1971 as the credit union's first branch. Before moving to that spot it was located in founder Jim Johnston's garage and a house on Stewart Avenue. The new branch will add a host of conveniences for customers. "We've never had drive-up ATMs before and we are going to add two of them," said Mike Moore, Rogue Federal's chief business and product development officer. The branch also features safe-deposit boxes, another first for Rogue Federal. Orders for the boxes will be taken at the new branch beginning Tuesday. The new location will also have four-lane, drive-thru service, much like the north Medford branch. The two-story building has about 15,000 square feet of space per floor. It's also set up so that a third floor can be added in the future. Including the purchase price of the land, the building cost about $5.8 million. "We've needed a kind of headquarters for years," said Alford. Rogue Federal's PlanAmerica financial planning service will move from the Royal Avenue location to the new branch next month. Rogue Federal's home loan center also moved recently, leaving its spot on Genessee Street for the former administrative building next to the north Medford branch on Royal Avenue.
