Pair indicted in Central Point robbery and assault James Ray Garner Friday Jan 6, 2017 at 5:34 PM Jan 6, 2017 at 5:34 PM Local report Two Central Point suspects have entered not guilty pleas to felony charges alleging they participated in the beating and robbery of a 68-year-old man in his home. Janice Gloria Jackson, 52, and James Ray Garner, 39, were indicted by a grand jury on felony burglary and robbery charges for attacking and stealing from Denis Toney at his home in the 4800 block of Tioga Way in Central Point. At about 7:45 p.m. Dec. 17, Garner allegedly entered Toney's residence without permission, beat Toney with a large aluminum Maglite flashlight, then took $518 in cash from Toney's wallet before fleeing with Toney's cellphone and computer tablet, according to court documents filed by Jackson County sheriff's deputies. When Toney attempted to dial 911 during the attack, Garner allegedly threatened him further. The documents also indicated Jackson was present during the robbery. Sheriff's deputies located Toney's money and electronics in Jackson's residence, court documents state. Jackson pleaded not guilty Friday to felony counts of first- and second-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. She was booked in the jail Dec. 17 and has since been released. Garner entered not guilty pleas to the same counts Dec. 28. He has remained lodged in the Jackson County Jail since Dec. 17, jail records show. His next court appearance is set for Jan. 9.
