New Albertson's opens Medford's second Albertson's store opens this morning. The grocery store anchors the Larson Creek Commercial Center, a 10.7-acre development at Barnett and North Phoenix roads. Other businesses will open there early this summer. Albertson's will open after an 8 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Medford Mayor Lindsay Berryman and 7-year-old Natalie Ruffe of Hoover Elementary School. Ruffe won a grocery bag design contest and her design will be featured in the new store as it opens. The 50,000-square-foot store employs more than 90 people, most of whom were hired locally, company officials said. Don Lubonski, who has been with Albertson's for more than 21 years, is the store's director. The store will feature a coffee shop and ice cream store and a meal center featuring fresh entrees prepared in the store's deli, as well as a full-service bakery and a video shop. The store also has a pharmacy, and U.S. Bank is opening an in-store branch, which will be open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. Sundays.
