Julian earns trip to NAIA cross country meet GRESHAM -- Southern Oregon University senior Becky Julian qualified for the NAIA national cross country meet with an eighth-place finish Saturday in the Cascade Conference meet at Blue Lake Park. Julian posted a personal best time of 20 minutes, 1 second in the 5K race. "Becky got right in there and hung on," Southern Oregon cross country coach Hans Voskes said. "She ran the race of her life." Eastern Oregon swept to the team titles in both men's and women's and captured the women's individual crown. Eastern Oregon took the top three women's spots and finished with a low score of 17 points. Oregon Tech was second with 92, followed by Western Oregon (93) and Southern Oregon (95). Eastern Oregon's Jamie Tuchscherer won the women's race in a time of 18:33. Southern Oregon didn't qualify any men for nationals. Freshman Amos Sime was the top Raider finisher at 18th place with a time of 27:43 for the 8K event. Southern Oregon freshman Jared Parmer, from Grants Pass, finished 23rd (27:57).
