Medford city recorder awarded regional directorship Friday Oct 28, 2016 at 10:24 AM Oct 28, 2016 at 10:24 AM The Oregon Association of Municipal Recorders has installed Medford City Recorder Karen Spoonts as its 2016-2018 Region V director. Spoonts received the oath of office at the association’s annual conference banquet held Sept. 23 at the Ashland Hills Hotel & Suites in Ashland. Spoonts has been an active member of OAMR since 2001. She has served on numerous committees, including Conference, Nominating (where she also served as chair), Professional Growth & Development, Mentoring & Leadership Development, Legislative, By-Laws, Internet, Retired Clerks, Records Management and Scholarship Committee. She received her Certified Municipal Clerk designation in 2005 and the prestigious Master Municipal Clerk designation in 2010 from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. Spoonts has worked for the city of Medford for 20 years, 17 of which has been in the City Recorder's Office. Last year, she participated in Chamber Leadership and served as the chair of the Fundraising Committee for a natural playground for Hawthorne Park. OAMR is a professional organization dedicated to promoting governmental relationships and providing educational and training opportunities for more than 200 Oregon city recorders statewide.
