Boys Soccer EAGLE POINT 1, CRATER 0: At Central Point, Donovan Hernandez’s 10th-minute strike stood tall and Eagle Point picked up the Midwestern League win over rival Crater at Dutch Meyer Field. Eagle Point (4-5, 1-3 MWL) scored the eventual game-winner on a slick sequence started by midfielder Moses Angel, who made a run inside from the left wing and then delivered a pass with the outside of his left foot to split a pair of Crater defenders and go right into the path of Hernandez. The Eagles’ senior forward did the rest from there, bending a shot just inside the far post to beat Crater keeper Diego Estrada. Eagle Point keeper Trenton Silani made four big saves — two in each half — in keeping the Eagles’ first shutout in nearly a month. Freshman Octavio Garcia, normally a winger, had a standout performance in the midfield for Eagle Point, while Andre Ramirez and Jameson Struble were strong at the back. Estrada finished with seven saves for the Comets (5-2-3, 3-1-1), who saw their six-game unbeaten run snapped. Volleyball ROGUE VALLEY ADVENTIST 3, PHOENIX 1: Rogue Valley Adventist senior Emma Bischoff filled up the statsheet with 16 kills, five blocks, 11 aces and seven digs to lead the Red Tail Hawks over Phoenix 25-13, 19-25, 25-12, 25-11. RVA (18-1) also got 26 assists, three kills, four blocks and nine digs from senior setter Destinee Quattrocelli. Fellow senior Michaela Porter chipped in nine kills, four blocks and five digs, while Isabell Zamora — another one of the Red Tail Hawks’ six seniors — added seven kills and eight digs. The Red Tail Hawks will be the top seed in the Mountain Valley League tournament, which takes place on Friday at Crosspoint Christian in Klamath Falls. Phoenix fell to 5-15 overall. Track.jpg
