Theft charge jails hot tub `team' guy By DAVID PRESZLER Team Americana founder Todd Surgeon was arrested Wednesday on two counts of first-degree theft by deception. Medford police said they have evidence that the 29-year-old Surgeon sold two customers hot tubs that he could not deliver. "He's taking their money with no means or intent to deliver (the hot tubs)," said police Lt. Tim George. "We feel pretty confident that we have a strong deception case." The two customers, one from Ashland and the other from Talent, both paid Team Americana $2,900-$3,100 for hot tubs but never received them, George said. Surgeon, who lives at 2223 Jet Circle, was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $10,000 bail. Police are continuing to investigate and asking others who may have been victimized to come forward. "We believe that there are additional victims out there," George said. "We are asking for those people to contact the police." Calls should be directed to detective Bill Ford at 774-2236. Team Americana moved out of its showcase on Jacksonville Highway on Sunday, under the threat of eviction for unpaid rent and attempts by creditors to seize property. Property owner Glenn Hobbs said the company owed $6,700 in rent unpaid since January. Hobbs said he and his attorney had been working to evict the company from the Jacksonville Highway site. Earlier this month, Team Americana vacated its business offices on West Main Street after eviction proceedings were filed for unpaid rent of $2,000 per month since January.
