Courtesy image In Focus: Third Friday Art Walk Galleries, restaurants, shops and studios in downtown Medford unveil new exhibits, host art demonstrations and more from 5 to 8 p.m. the third Friday of every month. The art walk celebrates all that downtown has to offer — shopping, dining, art and culture — and new experiences are offered each month. For more information, find Medford’s Third Friday on Facebook. American Trails: The gallery, located in the Columbia Hotel, 250 E. Main St., Ashland, features art and crafts of the indigenous peoples in North and South America. Art & Soul Ashland: The gallery features paintings in a variety of mediums and styles by local and regional artists. Throughout the month of July, see the exhibit “The Colors of Nature,” which will feature oil paintings and pastels by Suzanne Leslie. Art & Soul Ashland, located at 247 E. Art du Jour Gallery: See exhibits by 17 local artists in myriad mediums such as watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, pen-and-ink, Conté crayon, collage, sculpture, photography, mixed media and more. The annual Charity Hubbard Student Show, showcasing several of Hubbard’s student’s works will be displayed in the Main Gallery and the Featured Artist areas, and Charity Hubbard will display her own work in the Salon Gallery throughout July. During Medford’s Third Friday Art Walk, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 15, the gallery will host classical guitarist, Rod Petrone. The gallery, located at 213 E. Fifth St., Jacksonville, will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays. See work by featured artist Diana Rasmussen in the exhibit “Landscapes from the Heart,”showing fabric designs that tell a story and turn into art. The exhibit will be on display through July 31. Ashland Art Works: The gallery features work of local artists in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, woodwork, fiber arts, jewelry, and garden art. Enclave Studios: Enclave Studios, located at 1661 Siskiyou Blvd. #3, Ashland, is home to five local artists and exhibits paintings, sculptures and mixed media work. Exhibits include sewing, dyeing, knitting, crocheting, embroidering and felting to binding, collaging, painting, printing, stenciling, beading and creating assemblage pieces. Main St., Ashland, features vintage textiles and jewelry, antiques, art and furnishings. See the July exhibition featuring a new collection of diverse masks and artifacts from Africa, as well as photos, paintings, and jewelry. Photographs by Judy Benson LaNier will be featured alongside paintings and prints including portrait and village scenes by Jane and Vernon Lawhorne and jewelry by Joseph Bartlow. Hanson Howard Gallery: The gallery, located at 89 Oak St., Ashland, features works in an array of mediums including painting, sculpture, ceramics and fine art prints. The exhibit “Meet Me Out Left Field,” featuring ceramics by Dews and paintings by Robert Koch, will be on display through July 23. Dews and Koch bring imagined and often eccentric scenarios to life. In this world, the lines between animals and humans blur and fiction and fantasy rule. The gallery will be open noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and by appointment. Bartlett St., Medford, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. See paintings by local artist Cindy Triplett in the exhibit, “Inspired by New Zealand,”on display through Aug. 26. A reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 15, as part of Medford’s Third Friday events. Schneider Museum of Art: Southern Oregon University’s Schneider Museum of Art will open their Summer Exhibition, “Indie Folk: New Art and Sounds from the Pacific Northwest,” on view through Aug. 13. The Pacific Northwest is home to a unique artistic ecosystem involving craft traditions, pre-industrial cultures, and Indigenous and settler histories. Like folk art, the exhibition features handmade works that are unpretentious, and often blur the line between functionality and aesthetics. Artisanal woven baskets and tooled-wood objects mix with works that are makeshift, improvisational, and often employ salvaged materials. The exhibition features an intergenerational array of 17 notable artists from throughout the region including Marita Dingus, Warren Dykeman, Joe Feddersen, Blair Saxon-Hill, Sky Hopinka, Jeffry Mitchell, and Cappy Thompson. A playlist of Indie Folk music selected by Portland’s Mississippi Records, a record label and shop, will accompany the exhibition, filling the galleries with the sound of the Pacific Northwest. Masterworks on Loan will also be on display in the Entry Gallery. The gallery, located at 555 Indiana St. Ashland, will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
