Jackson County Sheriff’s Office photo. More than 17,000 plants were seized and destroyed following a raid at a suspected marijuana grow and processing facility outside Medford. The Jackson County Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team says they found 3,900 pounds of suspected processed marijuana Wednesday during a raid in the 3000 block of South Stage Road, Medford, along with roughly 17,500 growing plants, according to a release issued Thursday by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. The facility, which allegedly included marijuana growing outdoors and two large warehouses on the property, was not licensed for any type of cannabis growing, handling or processing. IMET detectives issued the search warrant Wednesday following several months of investigation into what the sheriff’s office describes in the release as “an illegal/black market marijuana processing and distribution organization.” On scene, IMET detectives — along with detectives with the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement task force and officers from Medford police’s Livability Team — made contact with 26 migrant workers who were interviewed on the property and released. The Oregon Department of Agriculture, Oregon OSHA and Jackson County Code Enforcement are also investigating alleged violations that were not specified in the release. Police have not named a suspect in the operation. Detectives are working additional leads before they issue criminal charges against the suspect.
