PREP BASKETBALL Logger boys cut down Paisley, improve Skyline A record to 5-1 PAISLEY -- A night after pinning the first league loss of the season on North Lake, Butte Falls kept the ball rolling by edging Paisley, 48-45, on Wednesday night. With the win, the Loggers (9-9) improved to 5-1 in the Skyline A League Southern Division. "We certainly got what we came over here for," Butte Falls coach Mike Harrington said of his team's two-day road adventure. Travis Smeltz keyed Butte Falls with team-highs in points (16), assists (8) and rebounds (6). "Travis just had a fantastic all-around game," Harrington said. The Loggers led Paisley 34-27 heading into the final quarter, only to have the Broncos trim the deficit by taking advantage of missed free throws by Butte Falls. Paisley had a shot to tie the game in the waning seconds, only to have the 3-pointer bounce off the back rim. Dusty Harrington added 13 points for Butte Falls, while Adam Forga led Paisley with 13 points. Andrew Crutch and Jody Cooper each had 10 points for the Broncos. Justin Bowen had 16 points to lead North Lake, with Dustin Robey and Corey Hash each adding 15. Keith Howard scored a game-high 17 points to pace Prospect (4-9, 1-4 Skyline A), while Donny Andresen added nine points and 10 assists. Girls BUTTE FALLS 34, PAISLEY 31 -- At Paisley, Butte Falls managed a 26-16 lead after three quarters and held off a Bronco rally in improving to 3-2 in the Skyline A Southern Division. Jessica Dunlap paced the Loggers (7-9) with 10 points, while Lindsay Stockton added seven. Paisley closed the gap thanks to 18 second half turnovers and a 2-for-12 effort from the charity stripe by Butte Falls. Kasey Jones led the Broncos with a game-high 19 points. The Cougars, who suffered their first league loss of the season, were led by Kary Lenderman's 15 points and 10 rebounds. Teammate Addie Stockebrand added seven points, six boards and six steals as Prospect slipped to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in league.
