The junior guard fueled SOC runner-up North Medford to a 60-54 home victory over Ashland in the final regular-season game. North Medford (19-5, 12-2 SOC) will host the Metro League No. 3 team in a state playoff game Wednesday, while SOC third-place Ashland (18-6, 9-5 SOC) will travel to Tigard, the Pac-9 runner-up, for a playoff Wednesday. Bostwick tallied 22 points to go with three steals and three assists to outshine Ashland’s highly regarded guard duo of Hilary Huyett and Alysse Carlson. Advertisement Bostwick scored eight points in the opening quarter to get the Black Tornado off to a 19-15 lead. "(Bostwick) did a good job pushing the ball and got us in our transition," North Medford coach Tim Karrick said. "It was the pace we wanted to go at." Bostwick was aggressive going to the basket and took advantage of her opportunities by sinking 9 of 11 free throws. Ashland pulled to within two points, 28-26, at halftime, but the Black Tornado surged to an eight-point margin entering the final period. "In the third, we wore them out with our pressure and we built the lead to 14 in the fourth," said Karrick. North Medford junior wing Caitlin Seeley turned in another good performance after getting off to a slow start with an early-season injury. Seeley contributed eight points and six assists. "(Seeley’s) shot is coming along," said Karrick. "She’s really good at reading the pick and roll and attacking the hoop." North Medford forced 22 turnovers and outrebounded the Grizzlies, 27-21. Michelle Westermann led North with eight boards. For Ashland, Carlson put up a team-high 16 points. ASHLAND (54) — Chase 6, Huyett 8, Golling 4, Carlson 16, Roupp 4, Hasty 7, Hill 9, Thivierge 0. GRANTS PASS 55, SOUTH MEDFORD 35 — At Grants Pass, Grants Pass made the playoffs for the first time since 1999 as the SOC’s fourth- place team, beating a short-handed South Medford club. The Cavers (14-9, 8-6 SOC), will host the No. 4 team from the Valley League on Monday. Kori Seymour scored 16 points for the Cavers, who outrebounded the Panthers 25-17 and grabbed 10 offensive boards. Shanna Claflin had 10 points and five rebounds for Grants Pass, and Patina Taylor and Katelyn Van Brunt each had three steals. GP had 10 turnovers to South’s 20. The Panthers were without three players who were suspended for disciplinary reasons. KLAMATH UNION 71, EAGLE POINT 51 — At Klamath Falls, junior Jenni Ritter scored 11 of her game-high 25 points in the first quarter to help Klamath Union get out to an early lead and pick up its first SOC victory of the season. The Pelicans (9-15, 1-13 SOC) cashed in from the free throw line, connecting on 24 of 31 attempts, while Eagle Point was just 3 of 9. The Pelicans built an 11-point first quarter lead and a 35-21 margin at halftime. Ritter, who was 10 of 12 from the line, also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds. KU’s Beth Narramore had five assists and three steals. Ashley Curtis led Eagle Point (8-16, 1-13 SOC) with 18 points and eight rebounds. JV result — Klamath Union won. Skyline Conference PHOENIX 44, HIDDEN VALLEY 25 — At Phoenix, Phoenix secured the league’s No. 2 berth to the state playoffs in the regular-season finale. The rest of the league completes league play tonight. Phoenix (16-8, 10-4 Skyline) could end up tied with Illinois Valley, which would need to win tonight against visiting Mazama. However, the Pirates own the tiebreaker. Phoenix will host the Far West League’s No. 3 team on March 2. Kat Cox had a fine all-around game against the Mustangs, with 14 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks and three steals. Jaclyn Unruh scored 10 points. The Pirates held Hidden Valley to single-digit scoring in three of the four quarters and used its aggressive defense to force 23 turnovers. HIDDEN VALLEY (25) — L.
