Once that need is filled, donations may be distributed to others in need. Several moves dampened this Medford man’s spirits before flooding in his most recent residence damaged many of his belongings. Developmental disabilities limit his independence and income. Staff of Pathway Enterprises Inc. teach the 21-year-old man a variety of daily living skills, such as housecleaning, cooking healthful meals and budgeting his money. Part-time work pays his rent but leaves very little for clothing or transportation. Since water from a broken pipe inundated part of his home, the man has faced the additional hurdle of saving toward the security deposit on a new apartment. Other unforeseen circumstances caused the man to move a few times previously this year, said Stephanie Smith, Pathway’s manager of supported-living services. Clothing and shoes are this man’s most immediate need. He wears size XXL in shirts and coats and could use socks and warm outerwear for winter. His pants size is 40/30, and his shoe size is 11. Gift cards to purchase other necessities would be welcome. Pathway provides employment to people with and without disabilities throughout Jackson County. It contracts dishwashing and custodial work to private and government entities, including county and city buildings throughout Ashland, Central Point, Medford and White City. The organization’s mission is to ensure adults with disabilities have opportunities to live, work and recreate in their communities to experience personal growth, integration and independence.
