Open house on city disaster plan set for Thursday Wednesday Jan 11, 2017 at 3:41 PM Jan 12, 2017 at 10:16 AM Local report The city of Medford will host a community open house on updates to its Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at the Carnegie Library, 413 W. Main St., Medford. The NHMP is a document that outlines management strategies in case of a large natural disaster such as a severe storm, large fire or earthquake, along with details on specific threats and history. Panel presentations and a discussion are planned. "We'll be answering questions and, yes, we definitely want input," said Larry Masterman, city emergency management coordinator. The target completion date for the document is June 30. Jackson County is also in the process of updating its NHMP, with a target completion date of late 2017. The plan includes how to best distribute information to the public, management strategies following a large-scale disaster, and how to take care of vulnerable populations such as youth and seniors.
