A Medford man who went by the nickname “Jax” is facing charges alleging he abused two minor girls he met online, and Medford police believe other victims may be out there. Timothy Dean Diaz Jr., 26, was charged in Jackson County Circuit Court on a string of felony rape and sexual abuse counts alleging he engaged in sexual activity with 12- and 14-year-old girls between summer 2014 and late 2017, according to Medford police and documents filed in Jackson County Circuit Court. In both cases, Diaz allegedly used variables of the alias “Jaxson Campbell” on social networking apps and websites that include Meetme.com, according to a press release issued by Medford police. Among variables listed were the names “Jackson Campbell” and “Jax.” Diaz came to Medford police’s attention in December 2015 while they were investigating a reported sexual assault involving a 12-year-old victim, the release said. The victim knew the suspect only as “Jax” at the time, but police gained leads earlier this year after learning about Diaz’s alleged Meetme.com profile, which used the name Jaxson Campbell, and gaining mobile phone information, according to the release. Diaz allegedly texted the preteen victim for a month before their first meeting, when he made sexual advances, but stopped after the victim begged him to, according to Medford police. Diaz is accused of sexually assaulting the girl during a second time at the same location, according to police. Court records allege sexual abuses occurred between August 2014 and August 2015. Jackson County sheriff’s deputies also believe Diaz is a suspect in the case of a 14-year-old girl in White City who reported she’d been sexually assaulted in 2015 by a man she met on Meetme.com using a similar name. Both victims say their sexual assailant rode a motorcycle. Diaz has been lodged in the Jackson County Jail since July 27 and faces felony counts of first-, second- and third-degree rape, first- and second-degree sexual abuse, and a fugitive warrant out of Maricopa County, Arizona, charging him with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. In April 2017, court records show Diaz was sentenced to probation and ordered to report as a sex offender after admitting to a felony count of attempted first-degree sexual abuse in a May 2015 incident involving a victim who was under the age of 14.
