Duo keys Panther triumph GRANTS PASS � Kellie Thomas and Whitney Grant keyed a fourth-quarter run to give South Medford a 53-44 Southern Oregon Conference win over Grants Pass on Tuesday. Thomas and Grants combined for 12 of the Panthers� 18 points in the quarter. "We played our hearts out but missed some key shots," said Grants Pass coach Ken Lathen. "They had an answer for everything in the fourth quarter." Both teams got off to hot starts with South Medford taking a 16-15 lead after one and the Cavers rebounding for a two-point advantage at the break. Danae Thomason carried Grants Pass (9-6, 2-3) in the first half with 12 of her 16 points but couldn�t find the hoop in the second half. Thomas finished with 17 for the Panthers, who upped their SOC mark to 3-2, while Grants added 12 and Emily Perttu 10. North Medford�s Ashley Nelson sank a 3-point shot with 18 seconds left, closing the Indians lead to one. An offensive rebound off a missed free throw, however, followed by an intentional foul sealed the win for Roseburg. JV result � Roseburg won. ASHLAND 67, EAGLE POINT 28 � At Ashland, the Grizzlies had their best shooting game of the season and rolled to their 10th win. Ashland (10-5, 3-2 SOC) made 58 percent of its field goals. It raced to leads of 23-9 after one quarter and 41-14 by halftime. Jackie Woods scored 21 points and Hanna Seltzer had 11 points, five assists and four steals in the victory. Eagle Point was led by Danielle Rouhier�s 13 points.
