Ashland nets revenge on Panthers ASHLAND It was sweet revenge for the Ashland High volleyball team on Thursday. The Grizzlies, who dropped their Southern Oregon Conference opener to South Medford three weeks ago, continued to flourish after a slow start with a convincing 15-4, 15-9 win over the Panthers. "We came out really solid," Ashland coach Josh Rolfing said. "Our passing was the difference between the first match against them and this one." After breezing to the Game 1 win, the Panthers put up a battle in the finale. South Medford stormed out to an 8-4 lead before Ashland rallied to trim the deficit to one. After trading side outs, the Grizzlies evened the score and eventually took the lead for good. Lichen Murray had a balanced game to lead the Grizzlies with eight kills and five digs, while senior Heidi Lawrence added six kills on eight swings and no errors. "In the last five matches weve gotten the senior leadership," said Rolfing about his teams improved play. "They (the seniors) are doing a nice job of staying positive and relying on eachother." Carrie Doren led the Panthers (7-6, 4-4 SOC) with six kills and Crystal Glover had five. Ashland improved to 8-6 overall and 5-3 in the SOC.
