North girls net 30th straight dual win North Medford's girls tennis team notched its 30th straight dual victory Tuesday when the Black Tornado rolled past Klamath Union, 8-1, at District Courts. The Tornado last tasted defeat on April 16, 1998 when Ashland defeated North, 6-3, behind state champion Tami Botts. Now North has a potential state champion in freshman Jenny Brown, ranked No. 1 in the Pacific Northwest by the USTA. Brown and No. 2 singles player Leslie Schultz didn't lose a game as the Tornado improved to 8-0 in the Southern Oregon Conference and 10-0 overall. With a win at Ashland today and against South Medford Saturday, North would complete its second straight unbeaten dual campaign. "We've had undefeated seasons, but never had them back-to-back," says Dale Jensen, the Tornado coach since 1981. It was also the first time this spring North had its top four singles players and doubles teams aligned the way it will for the May 11-13 SOC tournament at Stewart Park in Roseburg. "I've known what our lineup was going to be for about a month and a half," Jensen said. "But this was the first day everything was in place." SINGLES -- Jenny Brown, NM, d.
