Pacific Bible College accredited, looking to relocate By By Kaylee TornayMail Tribune Posted Apr 23, 2018 at 6:25 PM Updated Apr 23, 2018 at 6:25 PM Pacific Bible College is moving forward. Seven and a half years after its initial application, the only Bible college in the county is now an accredited institution. President Mike Robinson accepted an award of accreditation from the Association of Biblical Higher Education Feb. 21. "It was quite exciting," Robinson said. "It had been a long time, a lot of hard work, a lot of people involved." The accreditation means that credits from PCB will more easily transfer to other higher education institutions if students switch schools or pursue further education after graduating, Robinson said. The nonprofit began in 1991 as the Dove Bible Institute. Its name was changed to the Pacific Bible College in 2000. Students can complete associate degrees in biblical studies, applied science in Christian counseling and liberal arts, or a one-year certificate in Christian ministries. The Bible college is looking to move to accommodate what Robinson said is an approximate 30 percent annual growth. It plans to relocate from its longtime location at 409 N. Front St., to the south end of Second Street in Central Point, into a building that formerly housed an Asante physical therapy office. The building is changing hands from Asante to the Central Point School District, Robinson said. Pacific Bible College hopes to rent space on the six-acre lot. Robinson said he expects to make "substantial tenant improvements ... to make it into a usable, modern, customized learning resource for us." The goal is to move in at the end of the year, Robinson said. A "fast capital campaign" will launch next month. The college's comparatively low tuition cost makes it attractive to students in and around the Rogue Valley. Last year, PCB was approved as an eligible institution for Federal Student Aid, and Robinson said students who receive a Pell grant can essentially pay off an entire year of school.
