The problem is a laptop computer with a Windows XP operating system. Is it of any use or would it have any monetary value? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. — R. N. If you were hoping to cash in on your computer, Pierre Tetetit of Ashland-based Personal Computer Technologies has some tough news for you about its value. "Probably none. Zero. I wouldn't even take it for parts," said Tetetit, who operates a mobile and online computer repair and service business. He also builds new computers. Security and Internet browsing application updates aren't even being done anymore for your old laptop, he said. "It's just getting left behind," Tetetit said. "They can be recycled and that's about it." ECS Regenesys in Medford is among the locations in the Rogue Valley that accept computers for recycling.Logistics Coordinator Tarah Castleberry said the company ships old computers down to California, where they are shredded. "They're broken down into base materials and reused in other industries," she said. Castleberry said many old computers are recycled once they stop working correctly.
