Sunny weather forecast for Friday Sunday Mar 26, 2017 at 6:55 PM Damian Mann Mail Tribune @reporterdm If you enjoyed the rainy winter, expect more of same this week, but get ready for Friday when we might see bright sunshine and warmer temperatures. "Friday looks like a chamber of commerce day," said Shad Keene, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Medford. "If we get enough sun, it could nudge towards 70 degrees." Weather forecasts for the weekend are still difficult to predict, but Keene said it's likely we might have good weather next Saturday, though there's a possibility of a weak front rolling through, possibly by Sunday. Keene said the confidence in the weather forecasts diminish by Saturday and Sunday. More long-range forecasts look even better, with the potential to have higher-than-average temperatures in April. "Everything's going to feel warmer in April," Keene said. He said temperatures typically start to rise this time of year, but they could be even higher than normal through much of the month. Despite the rosy outlook ahead, expect more rain through this week, possibly bringing a quarter inch or so. Expect a little break in the weather on Tuesday, but another weather front should roll through Wednesday or Thursday. If the area gets up to a half inch of rain by the end of March, Medford could record the fifth wettest winter on record since 1911, Keene said. Currently, the rainfall total of 22.13 inches at the Medford airport is 164 percent of the average 13.48 inches that has fallen since Oct. 1. Snowpack has been higher than normal, and the water content of the snow is 20-percent above a typical winter, Keene said.
