The Panthers improved to 6-2-2 with an 8-0 win over cross-town rival North Medford during Southwest Conference action at North Medford High on Tuesday. "I was really pleased,” Borg said. “We changed up the lineup and they all did well.” South Medford’s Kai Elam, playing in the top singles slot, beat Alex Doan, 6-2, 6-4. Nate Whitley and Lance Neville paired to beat North Medford’s Joey Michelon and Jared Bressler, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in the No. 1 doubles match. South swept the season series. Track and Field ASHLAND BOYS, EP GIRLS WIN: At Ashland, Wyatt Thompson-Siporen won the javelin in 170 feet, 9 inches and pole vault at 13-6 to pace the Ashland boys to a Midwestern League win over Eagle Point, which saw Kevin VanDyke win the 1,500 and 3,000 and teammate Dominic Patterson claim the 110 hurdles and high jump. Eagle Point’s girls team edged the Grizzlies by one point, with Ariana Marks (800 and 1,500) and Marinda Stanton (long jump and triple jump) each winning two events for the Eagles. EP’s Dana Johnson also won the 100 and tied teammate Hannah McCoy for first in the 100 hurdles.
