The art walk on Friday, Nov. 17, will offer looks at fine and contemporary art, opportunities to meet the artists and festive gifts and artwork for the holiday season. "Ode to Time and Place," a solo exhibit by Medford artist Adrienne Husum, will open on Third Friday with a reception for the artist from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Rogue Gallery and Art Center, 40 S. Bartlett St., Medford. The exhibit includes a recent collection of landscapes painted in oil that explore color, shape, movement and texture. The artist starts her works with a slip of red cadmium that glows through subsequent layers of paint to create images filled with warmth. Husum began her career as a watercolor artist and has earned several awards for her representations of local landscapes. She began using oils nine years ago, and her work is influenced by the intensity and spontaneity of Wolf Kahn and Richard Keibenkorn. Her work is displayed at Hanson Howard Gallery in Ashland, Edward Montgomery Fine Arts in Carmel, Calif., and the Lodge Gallery in Sunriver. The Rogue Gallery is a nonprofit organization that provides a resource for fine art exhibits and education. It offers classes and programs as well as professional art services, membership and support opportunities, a gift shop and an art rental program. Staff at the Rogue Gallery also curates exhibitions in the Berry Gallery at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater in Medford. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The gallery's Holiday Shop opens Friday, Nov. 17. Artwork and gifts will be available through Dec. 23. See www.roguegallery.org or call 772-8118. Advertisement "Art Squared," a group show by gallery artists, will be displayed through Jan. 6 at Ambus Contemporary Art. The show is highlighted by sculpture, glass and pieces on canvas and paper in 12-by-12-inch formats. Receptions for the artists will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, and Friday, Dec. 15. Mulled wine and holiday sweets will be available. Ambus, 21 N. Bartlett St., features works by contemporary women artists, including watercolor paintings by Virginia Andrade and Alic Stambaugh, stained glass by Darla Baack, paintings in mixed media by Eileen Bowie and Dianne Erickson, paintings and sculpture by Janet Higgins, sculpture and woodblock prints by Nany Jo Mullen, papier-mâché sculpture and masks by Lisa D. Art du Jour Gallery will celebrate its second anniversary with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17. An exhibit featuring works by gallery artists will be displayed, and the artists will be available to discuss their work. Art du Jour, 320 Middleford Alley, is an artists' cooperative that features various works in watercolor, acrylic, pastel, oil, mixed media, pen and ink, collage and sculpture by members Margo Garnett, Tony Antonides, Patty Drake, Shari O'Neil Young, Dick Woods, Ruth Schubert, Marianne Kauffman, Paula Cooper, Sherrill Brumbach, Yvonne Kitchen, Ruth Heath, Bob Faulkner, Garland Arnaud and Judy Hueler. "Seasonal Delights," a display of small paintings and gift items, will be available through December. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. See artdujourgallery.com or call 770-3190. An exhibit of collectors' edition giclée prints on canvas by Mahmood Sabzi, Andrew Atroshenko, Lela Maharobeli, Peter Ellenshaw and local artist Donna Walsh will be displayed at Hagen's Fine Art Gallery. There will be refreshments from 5 to 7 p.m. Hagen's Fine Art, 571 Medford Center, next to Ashley Furniture and 24Hour Fitness, offers fine art prints, photography, gifts and custom framing.
