North fell to the Lady Louisville Sluggers, 10-1. Louisville scored four runs in the first inning and added six more in the fifth. The Black Tornado managed just two hits — a third-inning single by Darcy Cordell and an RBI hit by Deni Rowley in the same frame. North, now in the losers bracket of the 116-team, double elimination tournament, takes on the Carolina Cardinals today at 9:30 a.m. Advertisement Southern Oregon won its opener, 5-0 over the Illinois Sluggers, but dropped a 1-0 decision to the Tucson RoadRunners. Janelle Cristofaro went the distance in the opening-game victory. She finished with six strikeouts and went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs at the plate. Allesha Spradling also had three hits, while Lauren Rascon added two hits and three RBIs. Against Tucson, which was ranked as high as seventh in the nation last season, Laura Jones gave up five hits and fanned six in the losing effort. Tucson pushed across its only run in the fourth inning on back-to-back doubles.
