Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend October 28, 2005 Athlete of the Week Mickie Burns Eagle Point High School Eagle Point pushed the Ashland volleyball team to a point it has not been so far this Southern Oregon Conference season. The Eagles have senior outside Mickie Burns to thank for that and for much of their success this year. Eagle Point was 5-8 in the SOC entering Thursday’s season finale against Grants Pass. Burns registered 14 kills in the five-game defeat against top-ranked and unbeaten Ashland. Her performance against the Grizzlies wasn’t an aberration, though. In a five-game victory over South Medford a week ago, Burns registered a team-high 24 kills and 22 digs. She has twice posted over 20 kills in a match and has been in double figures eight times in SOC play.
