The all-conference post had yet to score in double figures and tallied just 19 points in three games for the eighth-ranked Black Tornado before finally breaking through against the Lava Bears in a 66-61 triumph at North Medford High. The 6-foot Westermann poured in a game-high 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting and added 12 rebounds to help North (4-0) remain undefeated entering today’s 2:45 p.m. tilt with Mountain View. "Michelle Westermann had a really good game," said North head coach Tim Karrick. "She did a really good job on the glass and played the kind of game we need from her inside. She dominated the paint and that was good to see." Westermann was far from alone in yet another solid showing by the Tornado as seniors Kailey Bostwick and Mellisa Eastwold each scored 15 points in a game made closer by a late Bend run against North’s reserves. Advertisement Bostwick added three steals and three assists and was 9-for-10 from the free-throw line on a night when her teammates were only 8-for-22 (36 percent) combined. Meghan Sampson had 11 points to lead Bend, which got nine points apiece from Kimber Mattox, Shannon Cramer and Melissa Cheney.
