October 16. 2014 12:25PM Officials warn of frauds touting fake Ebola cures The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers not to fall for the snake oil that frauds are trying to pass off as magic pills that can cure Ebola. The agency office for Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington said the scammers have taken to the Internet with ads for miracle drugs containing a variety of ingredients — silver, herbal oils and snake venom, to name a few. Per the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, "There are currently no FDA-approved vaccines or drugs to prevent or treat Ebola." Some products remain in the testing phase but are not yet available to the public. Consumers are asked to report any bogus product ads to the FDA or BBB.
