Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend December 22, 2005 Crater uses edge in size to win title Girls Basketball Roundup NEWBERG — Crater took advantage of its height to beat host Newberg in the championship game of the Newberg tournament on Wednesday. Junior point guard Kenna Reiter had 14 points, nine rebounds, four assists and only one turnover to lead the Comets to a 49-30 victory over the Tigers. Sophomore post Aundrea Albright added 12 points on 6-for-11 shooting for the Comets, who won their fifth straight game and improved their record to 5- 1. "We pounded the ball inside and played great defense," Crater coach David Heard said. "They couldn’t handle our size." The 6-foot-2 Albright and 6-2 junior post Amanda Haas each collected six rebounds as the Comets out-rebounded Newberg, 30-20. Advertisement "We were in a matchup zone and they had a hard time getting good shots off," Heard said. "Our defense was solid and Reiter had a great all-around game." The Comets return to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Lincoln in the Interstate Shootout at Lake Oswego High School.
